As much as he tried to keep himself from looking in her direction, the soldier threw one last glance in hopes that she’d be gone, that somehow he’d been lucky enough to avoid trouble for once. Briefly that almost seemed to be the case, she wasn’t where she’d been standing prior but it took only a few seconds for him to notice her steady pace toward him instead. Luck was not on his side, it never was and he considered running to avoid the confrontation but that would do little good for Steve who was still busy with whatever errand he’d come out here for.

Fingers curling into fists, he exhaled heavily and met her gaze, standing his ground firmly. She seemed to be alone as far as he could tell and while he wasn’t sure what kind of powers she had, he felt confident enough that he could at least slow her down enough for Steve to get out. They had contingency plans if things really went wrong but it would undoubtedly reveal where they were hiding and that wasn’t ideal, not for them or T'Challa.

Good point: he had noticed her walking towards him. Bad point: he did not seem very happy about it. She wondered if he would attack her. His clenched fists, hitched breath and this death glance he was throwing firmly at her were not exactly reassuring her, truth be told. She did not want to fight. She was merely curious, and shocked to see him here. And she missed all of her friends who had fought so perilously on his side. 

When she reached his height, she stopped walking, her eyes still locked onto his. She remained at a reasonable distance, standing straight, nervously licking her bottom lip. ❝ You should not be here. ❞ She spoke, shaking her head slowly. Her tone was calm and low, but there was a hint of hesitation in her words. It wasn’t a threat - merely a fact. For his security, for… whoever she was persuaded he had brought here with him. She bore no ill feelings towards him, but again, she bore no ill feelings towards anyone. She wanted to know his intentions.
