Zelda stood there before the lake, staring out at the murky stillness, and trying to recall the dream she had last night. It was unusual and hazy, as dreams often got. Even more unusual was the fact that it happened at all, as she was bedeviled with insomnia. Rare it was that she got a full nights rest, least of all a pleasant dream to accompany it. She only wished she could remember.

The sight of Lillian pulled her out of her musing. Zelda smiled back and drew closer, meeting her under the heavy roof of oak branches. She had liked Lillian from the moment she met her. Gentle and amazingly kind she was, with a trace of that aged wisdom one could only acquire from years of living. She really hadn’t the slightest doubt that there was more to Lillian than that lovely, young face would suggest. Such thoughts fascinated her.

“It’s really good to see you.” She said, after exchanging pleasantries. “What brings you back to the mansion? I can’t imagine it’s just to see me…although I would be very flattered.”

There was something relaxing about the girl’s company, and Lillian had been yearning for such feelings recently. Her thirst for independence made her a lonely creature - too lonely sometimes, and she wanted to meet people and to make friends for once. She wrapped her arms behind her back, the hems of her plaid cardigan floating softly with the chilly autumn breeze. ❝ I am glad to see you too. ❞ She nodded slowly, a small smile on her lips. Her question left her pensive for a few seconds. What did bring her back? She was on good terms with the professor, and she enjoyed the atmosphere around here. Young, hopeful, full of joy. A feeling she had been lacking of as of recently.

❝ Well, ❞ She began, tilting her head pensively. ❝ I needed some time away from the big city. ❞ She explained, bringing a hand to her face and tucking a long, wavy strand of hair behind her ear. ❝ I am thinking of staying here for a while. A few weeks - maybe a few months. I heard the professor was seeking new teachers. ❞ She didn’t think she would be very good at teaching, but she was willing to try. Give herself a goal to achieve, even a small one - and keep her mind busy. ❝ But I was eager to see you again. ❞ She added truthfully. ❝ What have you been up to since we last saw each other? ❞
