❛ Thirty one years to be exact. And I’m not that young anymore. ❜ Pepper didn’t consider herself old, she knew she was still quite young. Yet she didn’t live in an illusion where there were no younger people than her. Watching with excitement as Lillian producing a lily out of nowhere. It still amazed Pepper when ever she did that and she wondered if she’d ever get used to it. Maybe one day. ❛ That is true. Sometimes their company is better than another person’s company. ❜ It didn’t happen often that she would think this way, but when Pepper was driving her crazy, it could have been the truth. Shaking her head, she lowered her gaze a bit, smile fading just a bit, though it was still happy. ❛ He doesn’t. I don’t even think he would ever think about doing that. ❜
Seeing Pepper agree with her on how nice flowers were made Lillian smile even brighter, and for an instant she looked all excited and joyful, like a child being given a lollipop. She loved flowers, but again, she loved a lot of things. That included human beings, even if most were flawed - but she knew she was no exception.
Pepper’s answer had her lose her smile progressively, first because she found it sad that Tony didn’t give her flowers, and then because she realized her question had been a little too invasive.
❝ Oh. ❞ She bit her lower lip, her eyes shifting to the ground. She remained silent for a while, throwing nervous glances at Pepper - before hesitantly extending her hand towards her and magically detaching the glowing lilly from the rest of the vines, and handing it to Pepper. She raised her gaze again, unsure of what to say - hoping her gesture would bring a smile back on the redhead’s lips.
